Dialogue on the Kibbutzim
This program was created to combat the destructive rift between religious and secular Israelis and to break down mistaken stereotypes. Specifically our goal is to create mutual respect between the disparate members of the 270 secular kibbutzim in Israel and the Torah observant community.
So far, 10 prominent members of the academic community have spent Shabbat on these kibbutzim, creating positive dialog. Participants have included:
- Dr. Eliyahu Rips, Professor of Mathematics Hebrew University
- Professor Doron Aurbach, Head of Faculty Electro-Chemistry, Bar Ilan University
- Dr. Yonatan Zeigler, former senior engineer, NASA
- Dr. Yosef Binyamini, Electronic Engineer, Rafael Defense Technologies
- And more…
These programs have succeeded in building lasting friendships among people who never would have met, and it is our goal that these bonds will have a ripple affect, creating unity, and tolerance in Israel. We plan for at least 70 more of these encounters.

Tell Us!
In your words, a Mensch is…
We’ve asked lots of people what they think a mensch is – and they told us. Now we want to hear from you! Tell us: It can be a person, a thought, an idea or a few words. Whatever it means to you.
